In honor of Louise Bourgeois

Louise Bourgeois, photo: Pompidou Center

"Everywhere in the modern world there is neglect, the need to be recognized, which is not satisfied. Art is a way of recognizing oneself, which is why it will always be modern."

"It is a great privilege to be able to work with, and I suppose work off, my feelings through sculpture."

Fantasy Dinner Party Guest List

My sister thinks this makes me a creeper, but I think it is fun: who would be on your fantasy dinner party guest list? These are my invitees, above. I'd have to work on the seating chart, though, because we have some very different personalities going on. Louise Bourgeouis would definitely stay at the head of the table, though -- look, she even has a crown! Oh, what a meeting of minds it would be! Clockwise from Louise: Louise Bourgeois, Julia Child, Jose Andres, Freddie Mercury, Cary Grant, Michael Palin, Tony Curtis, Jane Goodall, President Barack Obama, Tim Gunn, and Michael Stipe.
